About Us

From humble roots in the back of a print shop to an expert team of journalists getting the latest news. For 5 years The Weekly Radar has been a keen competitor to mainstream current-affairs magazines. Our aim is to bring you the freshest stories every week, with an emphasis on unbiased reporting and stories relevant to young people. We've always strived to amplify the voices of the younger population, millennials and gen-z, and to showcase their radical and unique ideas. We believe that these people can change the world. And if we're lucky, they will. On this page, you will find out more about our magazine and how it has grown over the last three decades.

The Radar

Our mission is to highlight and overcome the biased nature of journalism, and to share young people's voices from around the world.

The Weekly Radar launched in 2015 in response to the hugely right-wing bias of British newspapers and magazines, by trying to create a magazine that reported facts and raw stories, with a separate section for opinions and hiring a diverse collection of journalists who specialed in different subjects and stories. Five years on, our journalists still come from all walks of life, and our stories remain as impartial as possible.

What is The Weekly Radar? One of our journalists talks about their experience.

In 2020, The Weekly Radar sold its 10 millionth copy, celebrated its 5th anniversary, and opened The Radar Project, a charity focused on helping young LGBT+ people in difficult or dangerous situations.

The Radar Project

Despite The Radar being a current-affairs magazine, LGBT+ rights have always been at the heart of our organisation. Founded by a gay man, we have always wanted to help LGBT+ individuals with our work. That's why, in 2020, we started The Radar Project, a charity that aims to help as many young LGBT+ people as it can.

We have a helpline for people to call, open 24/7 for anyone who needs advice, urgent help, or just somebody to talk to. We also hold coffee mornings and clubs in local areas, helping young LGBT+  folk get out of the house and meet people in their community

Additionally, we aim to be inclusive when hiring journalists and editors for our magazine, and we have a collective of staff from many different walks of life. We do not discriminate on terms of gender identity, sexuality, religion, class, disability or race, so that we can not only give jobs to people in less privileged situations, but also have the best people writing certain stories.
